ViewRanger: Hike, Bike or Walk app for iPhone and iPad
ViewRanger is now Outdooractive.
Goodbye from us. We have now switched off access to the ViewRanger app. Thank you to the global community of ViewRanger users who helped make our adventures so much fun.
We recommend you download and use the Outdooractive app instead of ViewRanger. We offer you an easy way to move to the Outdooractive app - where you can continue to access your maps, tracks, routes, POIs, and other ViewRanger app data.
Search for "Outdooractive" and download the app for free.
Well see you in the Outdooractive community
Your Maps
If you made one-off payments to access maps within ViewRanger, then we are offering free access to a set of maps via the Outdooractive app instead. The maps we are offering depend on the region of the maps you made one-off payments for in ViewRanger. The maps will be from the same map data provider or, where necessary, from an alternative map data provider depending on the map region.
If you have a current ViewRanger subscription, then you have an Outdooractive Pro subscription that will expire at the same time as your ViewRanger subscription. You will then need to renew your subscription via the Outdooractive app. It is no longer possible to purchase or renew a ViewRanger subscription.
Other Data
By connecting your ViewRanger account to Outdooractive, routes you have plotted, routes you have downloaded, activity tracks you have recorded, a record of the challenges you participated in, and points-of-interest you have marked, will continue to be available within your Outdooractive account.
APPLE HEALTH provides detailed information about your activity, including the number of steps you’ve walked and your heart rate (when using Apple Watch™ or Bluetooth 4.0 enabled devices). Tracks recorded from activities in ViewRanger can be saved to Apple Health as workouts.

Pros and cons of ViewRanger: Hike, Bike or Walk app for iPhone and iPad
ViewRanger: Hike, Bike or Walk app good for
Works well, easy to use and one can use parameters to increase the frequency of data point gathering for more precise measurement.
And one can use many maps and download trails albeit one has to pay.
Excelente App.
Great app.
Urgently needs the option portuguese language Brazil.
Its has some bugs, but nothing to hinder the use and performance pratice.
They could include the approximate caloric expenditure for sports style track.
Improve the insertion of the type of sport style, on the recording star of "Tracks"
Its so good cause even offline its possible to se the tracks.
Ive tried a few, and this is definitely worth the price. Love the buddy beacon feature! I hope to see some Canadian topographical maps in the future?
Using Viewranger to map out old and new hiking trails in Canada (West Bragg Creek). This is in an area of no cell or 3G coverage. The accuracy is phenomenal!
Was on a partially complete new trail that just died out in the middle of the bush - used Viewranger to guide us and hook us back up to an existing old trail!!
One request.... It would be nice to be able to put trail comments/notes that get posted with the track.
Highly recommend downloading the Cdn topographical map (only $4.99). Went portaging in backwoods of Manitoba shield for 4 days and the app worked flawlessly. Incredible accuracy. Still boggles my mind that it works with no cell network / internet access. It does take a while to understand the app because there is so much to it.
Some bad moments
A paper map for Spain costs nowhere near the 219 Euro these guys want. Tomtom maps are free now and the app is cheap. This app has no real future as people will choose free or cheaper.
This application has potential, but it crashes. It runs at glacial speeds and pans painfully slowly. It does not ave Canadia maps, either. I srongly advise against wasting 99 cents on it!
I wish I could give this app a negative 5 star rating. I also wish I didnt waste my money on it, because it is getting deleted. Very slow, no Canadian maps.
No Canadian content absolutely useless, obviously the owners have no idea how big Canada is.....? I agree with the other reviewer.
That could be a very good GPSR app but its search engine is so lame that it is nearly useless. It cannot find an address, it cannot find a street, it cannot find a geographical coordinate, it cannot find a point of interest, it can hardly find a city.
If I could give it a negative rating I would too. Totally useless in Europe and Canada. Doesnt work in the woods. Luckily I bought Motion X GPS and thats working great!
This program wont actually connect even when location services is enabled.
